Good Food
At Prescot Primary, we strongly believe that good food and happy mealtimes can impact positively on learning and behaviour. A healthy attitude towards food also goes hand-in-hand with our sporting curriculum. We make sure that children can sit near their friends and enjoy their lunchtime experience, developing their table manners and tastes as they grow. Staff enjoy eating with the children.
Over the past few years, we have developed a canteen where pupils, staff and visitors gather to eat and talk, sharing news about life outside school or opinions and preferences about food.
Our Head Cook and the team freshly prepare a menu that ranges from 'Trio of chicken: cajun, honey and BBQ' or 'Pulled pork and apple coleslaw' to a traditional roast. Alongside these hot meals, our children and staff can chose from daily home-made soups, jacket potatoes and paninis and a full deli bar with wraps and sandwiches. There are juices, milkshakes and water with a fresh fruit platter, jellies & yogurts and flapjacks or cookies that go down a storm!
This high standard of food provision continues into Breakfast and After School Club.
Throughout school, we provide top quality fresh fruit in abundance. It is wonderful to see the class 'fruit monitors' filling their baskets in the morning and asking if they can have more throughout the day. There really is no need for extra snacks to be brought into school, especially sugary snacks and drinks. We try to promote our fruit selection as much as possible.
