The Trainee Experience
At Prescot Primary, we believe it is a privilege to support the next generation of teachers. We know how important it is for trainees to be immersed in a positive, self-reflective learning environment, where they can grow and flourish alongside our children.
We work closely with the Mersey Borough Initial Teacher Training (MBITT) group as well as Hope University and Edge Hill University. We value the links with have with higher education providers. Some trainees are with us for most of the year while some may spend only a week with us. However long a trainee spends at Prescot Primary, we make sure that they receive high quality support from all of our staff. In return, we have high professional standards that we expect our trainees to meet.
While Lisa Seddon, (Deputy), co-ordinates and quality assures placements, many teachers – with specific mentor training – work alongside the trainees on a day-to-day basis. As a team, we recognise how, in supporting a trainee, we constantly reflect on our own teaching, verbalising what we know to be good practice. We relish the dialogue of improvement and love to watch as trainees move through their experience with us.
If you happen to be one of our next trainees – we look forward to meeting you.
