All children in Reception Class are assessed against 17 Early Learning Goals at the end of their time in Reception.

The children are given one of the following grades for each of the 17 Early Learning Goals:

Emerging – the child is still working towards achieving the ‘expected’ level.

Expected – the child has reached the ‘expected’ level for a Reception aged child.
