Applying for a place at Prescot Community Primary

We are a community primary and we welcome all applicants regardless of geographical location. We have two classes in each year group - with a maximum of 30 pupils in each class. We welcome visits to the school by families who may be interested in applying - please contact the school office on 0151 432 7100 to make an appointment or to ask about the next EYFS Open evening date.

As a community school, we use the Knowsley School Admissions procedures in order to determine the allocation of places. The Admission Policy is available on the Knowsley Council website:

Determined Admission Arrangements for Knowsley Schools 2025/26

The Local Authority consulted with schools, neighbouring local authorities, church authorities and parents/members of the public before determining admission arrangements for the 2025/26 intake of nursery, reception and year 7 pupils. An on-line public consultation was undertaken via this website for the required six-week period (from 14 December 2023 to 26 January 2024).

No comments or objections were received in respect of the proposed arrangements and subsequently the arrangements have been determined and can be viewed via the links below.

The Local Authority has also formulated the co-ordinated primary and secondary admission schemes;  these are the procedures for applying for places and the allocation processes for entry to school in the 2025/26 school year and apply to all schools/academies in the Local Authority area.

Academies and Voluntary Aided Schools (Catholic and Church of England) are also required to determine their admission arrangements on an annual basis.

Parents have a right to raise an objection with the Schools Adjudicator if they believe that any determined arrangements are not lawful or do not comply with the mandatory elements of the national School Admissions Code. Full details of how to raise an objection are given on the DFE website on www.education.gov.uk/schoolsadjudicator/decisions/obj  Objections must be submitted no later than 15 May 2024.

The determined admission policies and admission numbers for Voluntary Aided Schools/Faith Academies in Knowsley, and any Academies that are not adopting the Local Authority admission policy, can be accessed from the links below and can also be viewed on the individual school website.

Induction arrangements for new children and families

When your child is allocated a place in our school, there is a full induction process. All new Nursery and Reception parents attend an induction meeting. This will give you an opportunity to meet teachers and children and to find out all about our school. Every new parent will receive a comprehensive pack containing all the information you need to know. All new Nursery children are visited in their home setting by members of the Nursery staff. Reception children attend two induction workshops when they will work and play in small groups with their new teacher so that they feel secure and happy as they start school.

For children who are new to Prescot Community Primary during a school year, who may have transferred from another school, there is a full induction programme involving both parents and children. New parents will meet with the Headteacher so that we have an opportunity to discuss our expectations as a school and talk about your child – their likes and dislikes, what they enjoy learning and any support educationally, socially or medically that they may need.
