Themed Projects

Connecting with people and places is of great importance to our young learners, helping them to understand the world and their place in it.  At Prescot Primary, we want to ignite curiosity, promote enquiry and develop an appreciation of how the world has changed and why.  We want to do this in the most engaging, meaningful way possible and have therefore chosen to teach the foundation subjects using a project-based approach.

Although our themed approach enables our learners to draw connections,  we teach discrete skills that emphasise the key areas of learning for each subject, encouraging our budding historians, geographers, artists, philosophers and designers to flourish.

Each year group study three projects in-depth, plus one local study to start the year and a whole school conservation project at the end of the year.

We take inspiration from the Cornerstones Curriculum when planning our projects.

Our children also complete some year-long special projects that bring into focus key monarchs, countries, musical genres and heroes. The intention is to layer these experiences to build knowledge and understanding of the world and the people in it.
